While LINCS currently is aimed at the field of adult education, the previous LINCS website contained a number of publications and resources useful to parents and early childhood and childhood educators surrounding child literacy.
Birth through childhood is a critical phase in literacy development. Certain instructional practices can enhance language and literacy awareness in children and some early literacy skills have more impact on later literacy development (NELP 2009). The resources in this topic area will help both parents and early childhood and childhood educators learn strategies, identify needed skills, and understand the research so they can be more effective in helping children to develop the language and literacy skills they need to become lifelong learners.
